LEAD-ME Seminar "Media Accessibility in the Age of Artificial Intelligence"

On June 4th, LEAD-ME will host a seminar on "Media Accessibility in the Age of Artificial Intelligence." This seminar will address the proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and the opportunity they bring to revolutionise media accessibility for individuals with disabilities. We will explore the intersection of AI and media accessibility, examining cutting-edge advancements, challenges, and promising avenues for fostering inclusive content creation and consumption. Some of the key topics to address are:

1. State-of-the-Art AI Solutions: Explore the latest AI-driven innovations tailored towards enhancing media accessibility, including automated captioning, audio description generation, and image recognition technologies.
2. User-Centric Design Principles: Discuss the importance of prioritising user needs and preferences in developing AI-powered media accessibility solutions, ensuring seamless integration into diverse user experiences.
3. Collaborative Partnerships: Highlight the significance of collaboration among stakeholders, including researchers, industry experts, content creators, and advocacy groups, to drive collective efforts towards advancing media accessibility through AI.
4. Ethical Considerations: Navigate the ethical complexities surrounding AI-driven media accessibility, addressing issues of bias, privacy, and representation to uphold inclusive principles and foster trust among users.

We would like to invite all interested LEAD-ME members to actively participate in this thematic session. Participants will be able to present their work, either by giving a talk or by displaying a poster.

The LEAD-ME Action can reimburse 10 participants of its Work Groups to give a presentation at the seminar. We can also accommodate 10 more seminar participants with their own funding.

Important dates and submission process for the seminar:

• April 30, 2024 - title and abstract submission (max. 250 words) indicating a form of presentation (oral vs. poster). All abstracts will be selected by the LEAD-ME Core Group members. The selection will be based on the scientific rigour and innovative aspects of the submission.
• May 6, 2024 - notifications of acceptance
